WHAT IS THE BEST SLEEPING POSITION?

For better health it is important to find the best sleeping position.

Small changes to the way you lie in bed can have a BIG impact on your zzz’s…

WHAT IS THE BEST SLEEPING POSITION TO AVOID?

First and foremost, get off your stomach.

Sleeping on your stomach requires you to crank your neck to either side to make sure you are not face down and suffocating.

Stomach sleeping isn’t going to cause neck pain 100% of the time but 100% of the time it is increasing the likelihood of a muscle spasm or irritating a joint in the neck from stretching it over many hours.

It’s only a matter of time before this position starts to cause deterioration in your spine, no different than a car being out of alignment causing uneven wear and tear on tires.

WHAT IS THE BEST SLEEPING POSITION?

Sleeping on your back with a properly fitting pillow is the best sleeping position. It keeps your spine neutral and naturally puts less strain on your body.

Sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees is second best.  Placing a pillow between your knees keeps your hips even and prevents any unwanted strain while sleeping.

Can’t get off your stomach?

It takes active practice. In some cases it might feel uncomfortable because the underlying joints are irritated or shifted and don’t like the direct pressure of sleeping on the spine. This could reflect a core problem with your spine that needs Neuro-Structural Restoration.
